Bobby's send-off choice: the movie he grew up rewatching on other kids' DVD players, and his gateway to Eddie Murphy, who plays Donkey. DreamWorks' fairy-tale spoof, loosely adapted from William Steig's book, was originally optioned by Steven Spielberg and set to star Chris Farley, who recorded most of Shrek's voice before he died. Mike Myers took over and, late in production, insisted on redoing the whole thing in a Scottish accent, reportedly costing close to half a million dollars in reanimation. Bobby's theory: this is where movies and memes fused, and the uncanny early-2000s CG is part of why Shrek's face still fills every meme format. The gang dwells on the Gen X soundtrack: Smash Mouth's 'I'm a Believer' and 'All Star,' a Joan Jett needle drop, John Cale singing 'Hallelujah.' It won the first-ever Best Animated Feature Oscar over Monsters, Inc. and Jimmy Neutron.
