Mad Max: Fury Road 2015
George Miller's fourth Mad Max film, conceived in 1978 and released 28 years after 'Beyond Thunderdome.' The hosts call it the best action filmmaking of the century so far: a chase that runs one way and back over a single day, told almost as silent film, with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron carrying it through faces and glances. Sean rewatched the black-and-chrome edition; both point to the practical stunt work fused with heavy CGI, Junkie XL's score, and the guitar-wielding Doof Warrior. It made about $380 million and won six Oscars below the line while losing Best Picture to 'Spotlight.'
