Killers of the Flower Moon 2023
Both hosts saw it twice and land on masterpiece. Scorsese, co-writing with Eric Roth, drops the whodunit frame of David Grann's book and builds the film around Ernest Burkhart (DiCaprio) and his marriage to Molly (Lily Gladstone), who both hosts say is the movie's real center. De Niro plays William Hale as benign, played-for-laughs evil. They dwell on the moral question of whether Ernest's love can be real, the Osage consultant Christopher Cote's objection, the owl motif and Lizzie's death, the radio-show coda where Scorsese himself reads Molly's obituary, and the Jack Fisk production design. Runs three and a half hours; they insist that's the point.
