The year's only Marvel release, directed by Shawn Levy and written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Levy. Amanda reads Sean's plot recap aloud: Deadpool is pulled into the TVA by Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), grabs a downtrodden Wolverine, and lands in the Void, where Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) and a wasteland of forgotten Fox characters await. Van had a blast and calls it a home game: he already cares about Deadpool. Charles found it emotionally hollow and didn't laugh once. Jomi read it as a love letter to the pre-MCU characters (Johnny Storm was his first hero). Everyone flagged the wall-to-wall exposition and low stakes and praised Hugh Jackman. Sean's frame: a $250 million spoof of superhero movies that works as comedy but plays like IP loss-prevention from a journeyman director, and a send-off for 20th Century Fox more than for Deadpool. The Wesley Snipes 'there's only one Blade' line lands as a direct shot at Mahershala Ali's stalled Blade.
